In May, in partnership with Curb Allure (curballure.com), we realized a 2011 goal with the installation of two new tree guards. (Cursor over image to see second guard.)

W75BA Goals for 2012

Goals for 2011 that were achieved: Publication of the first edition of our Neighbor-to-Neighbor Business Directory; installat\on of two tree guards; curb extension at SW corner of West End Avenue.

Block Beautification

  • Sponsor two Block Beautification days
  • Present ten Block Beautification Awards
  • Install at least two new tree guards along the block
  • Install a planter on the 75th Street/West End Avenue curb extension
  • Install at least one hanging planter on a lamppost along the corridor

Community Outreach

  • Expand our Neighbor-to-Neighbor Business Directory
  • Host a splendid BLOCK BLAST party in September
  • Increase membership to 175, including five new co-op building sponsors and five new merchant sponsors
  • Host general meetings to address topics relevant to the community
  • Publish and distribute four newsletters to keep our community informed
  • Increase email outreach to more than 700 community members

 Advocacy & Support

  • Support the campaign for landmark status for the West End Avenue Historic District
  • Stand in solidarity with neighbors against a 14-story “sliver” building at 207 West 75th Street
  • Address the issue of commercial traffic on West 75th Street between Amsterdam and Columbus Avenues
  • Take a leadership role in the newly formed Coalition of Block and Community Leaders (CBCL)
  • Play a key role in planning and producing the first CBCL Symposium in March
  • Support two local charitable organizations with end-of-the-year donations
